A new study titled, “Impact of Workplace Daylight Exposure on Sleep, Physical Activity, and Quality of Life,” concludes that there is a strong relationship between workplace daylight exposure and office workers’ sleep, activity and quality of life. Compared to workers in offices without windows, those with windows in the workplace received 173 percent more white light exposure during work hours and slept an average of 46 minutes more per night.
Natural light is a simple way to get employees to be more efficient and happy. With studies like this, who wouldn’t want to add natural light to their office?
Accountability is important in the work place. With a glass office, it is easier to check in and see what your employees are up to but still allow them the benefits of having their own space. Many employers use cubicles to separate their employees and still be able to check in on them during the day. Sadly, studies have shown that cubicles are not effective ways to separate employees.
